Thank you very much, the ladies and gentlemen who came to our class for the second time!
In fact this is my first time to coordinate a class at OLLI, and there are so many things I need to learn!
I used to teach English in Japan almost 30 years and developed my style of teaching, entertaining, and stimulating students.
But this is America!!
People's interest, the way you guys expect for the class, and the timing you laugh with are very different!!
In the fist class, I was too nervous and tensed, but I was happy that I could just make it, but this time...
at the second time, I mean, yesterday...
I really regret that I did not give chances to you guys to talk well enough...
Every time I close my eyes, the scene that about 80% of the class were raising their hands right after I showed the crazy video above and I did not let every one of you guys talk while you wanted to say a comment or ask a question about this most weird video ever seen...
I had several other weird videos I wanted to show to you guys and I didn't have enough time for it...
I am very sorry!
And because of this, I have learned!!
I should show most interesting videos first, and I should set less interesting ones in the end so that when I do not have enough time, I do not need to sacrifice the precious interaction with you guys!!
Here is an Japanese proverb.
七転び八起き(nanakorobi yaoki)
This means that when you fall 7 times, you get up 8 times, meaning when you fail, learn something and stand up again.
Thank you for this opportunity to learn and make myself grow more mature!
Next time the theme is "animation" .
What I am planning is how much I make you guys laugh and talk!
Our room has changed to 512 so that we can accommodate a lot more people!
For now 68 people are registered, but we expect more students!
Our plan for tomorrow is the following.
I will be in charge of the first half.
After quickly introducing ourselves and the class, I will show you 3 of the very very very interesting Japanese short videos. (they are really interesting!)I will also introduce the basic information about Japan.
After the break, Hidemi will explain about Hanami, cherry blossom watching party, every Japanese's favorite!
I saw some of the images she plans to show in the class, and it was very beautiful, and actually she is planning to tell you a heart-touching story too.
I am so excited!!
See you tomorrow!!
"God has placed me where I am to be a blessing."
Now I understand why I have come to such a scorching-hot part of America, Las Vegas while there are no family or friends, and I happened to move in the condo in a walking distance from OLLI campus...
